Firefighter Axe

The Firefighter Pick-Head Axe is a professional forcible-entry and ventilation tool engineered for structural firefighting, USAR operations, and emergency demolition. Forged from medium–high carbon tool steel (0.55–0.65% C) and heat-treated to 45–55 HRC (Rockwell C, ASTM E18 tested), the axe delivers reliable penetration, prying capability, and impact durability on the fireground.

Available with a fiberglass handle for operational use or a wood handle for general rescue and non-fireground applications, the tool offers balanced weight options of 3.5 lb (1.59 kg) and 6 lb (2.72 kg). A corrosion-resistant coated head and high-visibility handle improve tool identification during forcible entry, ventilation, and overhaul tasks.

This firefighter axe supports OEM / ODM / OBM customization for departments and industrial buyers requiring specific dimensions, branding, or performance characteristics.

This Firefighter Pick-Head Axe is manufactured from medium–high carbon tool steel selected for its balance of toughness, edge retention, and impact resistance. The forged steel head undergoes controlled heat treatment to 45–55 HRC on the Rockwell C scale, validated through ASTM E18 hardness testing, ensuring the bit maintains sharpness when striking wood, roofing materials, light metal structures, and drywall.

The head includes a polished cutting bit for smoother penetration and a pick end designed for breaching, prying, and overhaul tasks. A corrosion-resistant protective coating, verified through ASTM B117 salt-spray exposure, helps extend service life in humid and high-stress environments.

Two handle options are available:

Fiberglass Handle(Fireground Primary)

  • Pultruded fiberglass core and reinforced polymer outer layer

  • Maintains rigidity under typical rescue-tool temperature exposure

  • Non-conductive and moisture-resistant

  • High-visibility finish improves identification in daylight and low-light

  • Note: Not designed for direct flame exposure

Wood Handle(General Rescue Use)

  • Natural hardwood with sealed surface

  • Comfortable traditional grip

  • Recommended for non-fireground environments (construction, training, general rescue)

The head-to-handle joint uses a compression wedge system and reinforced collar to mitigate separation under impact loads—critical during forcible entry and ventilation tasks.

Every unit undergoes dimensional checks, impact testing, and functional evaluation in accordance with ANSI B107 hand-tool performance guidelines.

  • Forged Tool-Steel Construction
Medium–high carbon steel (0.55–0.65% C), heat-treated to 45–55 HRC, ensures dependable cutting and prying performance.

  • Pick-Head Rescue Geometry
Cutting bit for penetration; pick end for prying, breaking, and overhaul in structural firefighting and USAR scenarios.

  • Reinforced Connection System
Wedge-secured head with reinforced collar for impact stability; tested per ANSI B107 hand-tool criteria.

  • Handle Options for Operational Needs

    • Fiberglass handle: high visibility, moisture-resistant, non-conductive

    • Wood handle: traditional feel for non-fireground tasks

  • Corrosion-Resistant Head Coating
Coated surface tested with ASTM B117 exposure to support long-term durability.
