Household Fire Blankets

Specify the intended small-fire application, blanket dimensions, deployment packaging, instructions, and applicable fire-blanket documentation. A household fire blanket is a flexible product for defined small-fire use; it is a different specification from a welding blanket or a large vehicle blanket.

Welding and Hot-Work Blankets

Select for the planned sparks, spatter, molten material, installation orientation, and exposure duration. Blanket, pad, and curtain classifications have different uses. Include the required edge reinforcement, grommets, support arrangement, and product approval in the specification. A material flame test alone does not establish protection for every hot-work exposure.

EV and Vehicle Fire Blankets

Large vehicle blankets belong in a trained professional response program. Specify vehicle dimensions, fabric construction, coating, deployment arrangement, and the required test documentation. A blanket can limit flame spread, but it does not stop battery thermal runaway or remove gas hazards; confined-space and personnel-safety requirements remain part of the response plan.

Materials, Coatings and Heat-Exposure Conditions

Compare fiberglass, high-silica, or alumina fabric with the coating, thickness, fabric weight, seams, and edge construction required for the task. Evaluate continuous material temperature ratings separately from short-term peak exposure. The material rating is one selection factor; complete blanket performance also depends on exposure duration, installation, and the conditions documented for the selected product.
