Poseidon’s current clean-agent range includes FM-200, which uses HFC-227ea, and IG-100, which uses nitrogen. Both can be used in engineered gaseous suppression systems, but their storage, discharge, enclosure, and personnel-safety requirements differ.
System selection should be based on the protected hazard, enclosure volume, occupancy, installation space, applicable standard, and the documentation required for the project.
CO₂ systems are treated separately because their personnel-safety requirements and design framework differ from clean-agent systems.
Selecting a Clean Agent System
FM-200 and IG-100 should not be selected only because both are described as clean agents.
The decision depends on protected volume, occupancy, enclosure integrity, available agent-storage space, piping arrangement, pressure-management requirements, destination-market requirements, and the documentation required for the project.
For either system, final agent quantity and system configuration should follow the engineered design for the protected enclosure.
