Pendent Fire Sprinkler Head

The pendent fire sprinkler head is an automatic water-based fire suppression component for commercial, residential, and light-hazard industrial occupancies. It uses a 68°C (155°F) glass bulb and a K-factor 5.6 gpm/psi½ (metric K=80 L/min/bar½) to deliver consistent discharge density over the design area.

Constructed from forged corrosion-resistant brass and rated to 175 psi (1.2 MPa / 12 bar) maximum working pressure, the sprinkler produces a standard spray parabolic pattern, directing the majority of flow downward to control or suppress fire at floor level. Standard 1/2″ or 3/4″ NPT threads provide compatibility with wet-pipe fire sprinkler systems commonly designed under NFPA 13 in North American projects.

This pendent fire sprinkler head is designed for fixed installation in wet-pipe sprinkler systems serving light and ordinary hazard occupancies such as offices, hotels, retail, and similar conditioned interiors. A 5 mm glass bulb filled with a calibrated liquid expands as ambient temperature rises; when the temperature reaches the nominal 68°C (155°F) rating, the bulb fractures and opens the waterway. Once the orifice is exposed, network pressure drives water through the K=5.6 gpm/psi½ (K80 metric) outlet, forming a standard spray pattern.

The deflector geometry is tuned to produce a parabolic distribution curve with the required minimum density at the design radius when the system is hydraulically balanced. This pattern directs most of the water downward and radially outward, supporting NFPA 13 design methods for standard spray sprinklers in wet systems. When installed at the proper elevation and spacing, the pendent head provides uniform coverage of the protected floor area.

The sprinkler body is manufactured from forged brass with a low-lead alloy composition suitable for fire protection service. Internal and external surfaces can be supplied in natural brass, chrome-plated, or polyester-coated finishes, depending on aesthetic or environmental needs. For projects requiring enhanced atmospheric resistance, the sprinkler can be specified with a surface finish validated by ISO 9227 neutral salt-spray exposure for extended corrosion resistance in typical indoor conditions.

Connection to the system piping uses 1/2″ or 3/4″ NPT (ASME B1.20.1) threads, allowing straightforward installation into welded, grooved, or threaded mains and branch lines. Pendent, upright, and horizontal sidewall configurations share a common internal flow path and orifice sizing so that hydraulic calculations remain consistent across layout variations. This reduces complexity when designers adjust orientations to accommodate beams, soffits, or architectural constraints.

Poseidon sprinkler can be supplied with project-specific finishes, identification markings, and packaging. Support includes technical data sheets, hydraulic performance curves, and design guidance aligned with NFPA 13 system criteria. Private-label options are available for distributors that require branded product families while maintaining consistent hydraulic characteristics across their catalog.
